Melbourne Christmas Treasure Hunts
The Christmas Treasure Hunts are a FREE, fun learning experience for families, groups and individuals offered as a part of the the City of Melbourne’s Christmas Festival in December 2023. Catering for people of all ages, activities will take participants all around the City of Melbourne. Explore the stunning Christmas installations and learn about Melbourne’s iconic and lesser-known landmarks. There are fabulous prizes to be won.
Treasure Hunt adventures with maps and clues (designed by Spatial Vision cartographers) will be provided across three categories:
Christmas-Themed Treasure Hunt for Families – Carlton Gardens
10 December from 9:30am – 3:30pm, commencing @ The Royal Society of Victoria
Suitable for families with pre-school/primary school aged children. Adult supervision required. Bookings essential.
- Pick up your maps and clues from the Royal Society of Victoria.
- Head over to the park, kids follow the map, answering the questions.
- They return their answer sheet any time before 3:30pm to collect a prize.
- Approx time to complete – an hour or two (depending on how long you spend in the playground!).
Melbourne Quest – A Christmas-Themed Treasure Hunt
10 December from 9:30am – 3:30pm, commencing @ The Royal Society of Victoria
Join in the Melbourne Quest – a fun and free event for individuals, families or teams as part of the City of Melbourne Christmas Festival. Discover amazing treasures and be in the draw for some big prizes!!! Assemble your team (of up to 4 people), or go it alone!
On the day you will:

- Pick up your map and the 40 question/answer sheet any time between 9:30am and 12:30pm at the Royal Society of Victoria.
- Head off in any direction you choose, travelling by any means you wish – walk, cycle or public transport (free trams operate within the CBD).
- Find the treasures and answer as many of the questions as you can.
- Return your answer sheet by 3:30pm.
All entries with at least 30 correct answers will go in the draw for a chance to win the major prize!! Other great prizes will be awarded for various categories.
