Dr Peter Thorne was formerly the Head of the Department of Computer Science at The University of Melbourne and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Engineering until 1999.  He has been a member of numerous State and Federal advisory boards and is currently the Director of Computer Forensic Services Pty Ltd: a company providing expert advice in computer disputes and litigations. For the last fifteen years Peter has led a team researching and documenting Australia’s pioneering achievements in computing.  As Vice-President, Peter led the Royal Society’s Burke and Wills sesquicentenary programme in 2010.
