Prior to his retirement, Malcolm Carkeek worked as a Consulting Structural Engineer and Computer Programmer in Canada, and a Systems Analyst in Australia, specialising in commercial and technical systems for the construction industry.  One of his main interests is Vertebrate Palæontology and he has volunteered as a Preparator at Museum Victoria since 1989.
