Tony Clemenger – RSV Councillor
Mr Clemenger was born into Australasia’s largest advertising and marketing communications conglomerate, Clemenger, started by his grandfather and today one of the most awarded communications agencies in the world.
Mr Clemenger studied at Monash’s David Syme Business School, obtaining a Bachelor of Business and Accounting while also working for Clemenger in accounts, PricewaterhouseCoopers Australia in auditing, and National Australia Bank in the money markets. He moved to Adelaide to forge his own path, working in investment banking and the futures industry while also training to become a registered futures trader. He obtained graduate diplomas in Applied Finance and Investments, and Economics.
Mr Clemenger returned to Melbourne to work for Clemenger in film and photography, then moved to Sydney, where he then worked for the company in management. He then took a consulting role for a Murdoch magazine company prior to seeking opportunity and wisdom in China.
He held an office in Beijing University’s MBA School, where he was the first foreigner to lecture in advertising. He developed and implemented training programs for Clemenger’s global partner prior to leading a college in Shanghai. Mr Clemenger also started The Ad Company in China: SME Advertising and Marketing, returning to Melbourne in 2001 to expand this business.
Mr Clemenger now runs Clemenger Consulting and is the founder and leader of the National Indigenous Cultural Centre. He is a leader with a career demonstrating expertise and outstanding performance in marketing, advertising, consulting and academia, with national and international experience.
Mr Tony Clemenger was appointed as a Councillor by the Council of the Royal Society of Victoria in April 2024.
